Absa Premiership

Result: Kaizer Chiefs 1-2 SuperSport United

Date: 23 August 2017

Venue: FNB Stadium

Kaizer Chiefs remain winless in the Absa Premiership this season, after they suffered a 2-1 loss to SuperSport United at the FNB Stadium.

Chiefs got off to the worst possible start, as they were reduced to 10 men after seven minutes when Eric Mathoho was shown a straight red card for bringing down Bradley Grobler.

SuperSport made the numbers advantage count and broke the deadlock in the 13th minute when Aubrey Modiba headed home from close range, after some impressive build up play.

The hosts suffered another blow after 24 minutes when Tsepo Masilela was forced off with an injury after a collision with Brilliant Khuzwayo.

Chiefs still enjoyed most of the possession despite the numerical disadvantage, and they had a chance in the 39th minute when Bernard Parker cut inside before firing wide from inside the box.

However, SuperSport doubled their advantage on the stroke of halftime when Teboho Mokoena's fine pass found Grobler, who fired past Khuzwayo from the edge of the box.

With the numbers in SuperSport's favour, Tinkler introduced Jeremy Brockie for Dove Wome at the start of the second half.

Chiefs continued to search for their first goal but they were finding it tough to create openings, which prompted Komphela to introduce Wiliam Twala.

The hosts were eventually rewarded for their perseverance when Siphiwe Tshabalala's knockdown found Gustavo Paez, who volleyed home from close range in the 65th minute.

With Chiefs seeing most of the ball, Tinkler opted withdraw Grobler and introduced midfielder, Cole Alexander.

Komphela's charges continued to push for an equalising goal in the closing stages, but they were unable to carve out another clear-cut chance as SuperSport held on for the win.

Here's how they lined up:

Chiefs: 16. Khuzwayo, 2. Mphahlele, 26. Gordinho, 3. Mathoho, 24. Masilela (Zulu 24'), 12. Maluleka, 31. Katsande, 27. Ekstein, 14. Tshabalala, 14. Parker, 9. Paez.

SuperSport: 30. Williams, 20. Kekana, 4. Daniels, 29. Gould, 3. Ritchie, 6. Letsholonyane, 28. Mokoena, 13. Phala, 16. Modiba, 15. Wome (Brockie 46'), 7. Grobler (Alexander 82').

By looking at the amount of comments one can clearly see that Chiefs is a seriously big team in mzansi. They prent to be against it but you can clearly see that they are hurting that the best and biggest team in SA has not won a game and a cup in two seasons. You see if other teams loose comments don't go on for more that than 2 full days but the darling of mzansi looses the hole country is in pain. Opposition fans cant stomach Steve Khompela.s losing streak. That is very good to observe guys so that when you are told which team has the biggest following in SA you do not confuse it with the likes of Sunflops.

the very same management he has to meet lacks vision for the team ,maybe they need to start up there in the head ,when ever the head is sick the body will follow suite ,this banana republic of sort that Mr Motoung is trying to create at chiefs will hurt him more than he thinks he was not suppose to buy back the shares from other stakeholders, now he has 100% ownership of the club but results refuse to come, take your children and feed them something else not the development of the team and our emotions plz.

As much as I wanna point out my frustrations to thee management i also wanna say this without fear or favor, Komphela is not a good coach to take us anywhere near glory he has failed that with the most dominant team in tha psl Baxter left a team that won 4 cups in 3 seasons but Komphela destroyed that core within two years all our best players left yeye left cause he didn't get game time under mr English nd left he was a pivotal in us winning those cups recently one of the darlings most loved player in kaizer chiefs left cause Komphela was benching him nd showed no believe in him his now gone to our enemy, I would like to tell my fellow chiefs supporters that we do have good players but we lack a mastermind, a leader we dont have a coach we have the best players in Mulongoane and Thwala but a they always benched Jayiya is really good signing but isn't playing we have moon and zuma, we have the best wingers who can supply nd score goals but our coach doesn't use them like he doesn't use his shinny head n brains when Komphela finally leaves he would have made some big big damage I'd rather give VV a second chance than have a Komphela...

I still believe swapping CB for CB was really wrong cs the combination between katsande and Cardoso was not there...though Katsande tried bt was disorientated.few times as we attack some of our players were walking wat the f... was that.Pule was all over the field,Tshabalala was trying,Twala tried,Parker needs Rest.....no man i think u need to reshuffle the whole squad
