Chiefs Move Up To Fourth After Polokwane Win

Absa Premiership
Result: Kaizer Chiefs 2-1 Polokwane City
Date: 13 January 2018
Venue: FNB Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs clinched their first win of the new year, after coming from behind to beat Polokwane City 2-1, on Saturday evening at the FNB Stadium.
Polokwane's Walter Musona had the first shot in anger in the seventh minute, from outside the box that was collected easily by Itumeleng Khune.
Wiseman Meyiwa nearly opened the scoring in the 13th minute, with a left-footed shot from distance,  but George Chigova made a brilliant save at full-stretch.
In the 22nd minutes, Musona grabbed the lead for Rise and Shine with a stunning free-kick from 25-yards, that sailed perfectly into the top left corner, 0-1.
Ryan Moon equalised for Amakhosi in the 31st minute, with a glancing header at the near post following a corner by Simphiwe Tshabalala, 1-1.
The home side were creating chances going forward after 40 minutes, but lacked cohesion to keep the ball for long periods.
As a result, the final five minutes were slow and the sides went into the break level at 1-1.
Teenage Hadebe almost got the second goal for Amakhosi 10 minutes into the second half, with a header that sailed over the crossbar.
Dumisani Zuma made it 2-1 for Steve Komphela's charges in the 65th minute, with a fine finish from close range after he was setup by Joseph Molangoane.
Rodney Ramagalela nearly equalised in the 71st minute with a stinging low shot, but Khune did well to save at full-stretch to keep Chiefs in the lead.
The hosts were retreating and playing from deep in their own half with 10 minutes left on the clock, while Rise and Shine upped the tempo as they searched for an equaliser.
However, the hosts showed composure in the last few minutes to close out the match as they returned to winning ways.
Here's how they lined up:
Chiefs: 16. Khune, 4. Cardoso, 20. Hadebe, 3. Mathoho, 21. Zulu, 23. Molangoane, 13. Katsande, 38. Meyiwa, 14. Tshabalala, 29. Moon, 9. Páez.
Polokwane: 1. Chigova, 1. Semenya, 24. Hlongwane, 5. Maponyane, 22. Mbonani, 21. Seabi, 17. Ramagalela, 6. Vilakazi, 35. Ndou, 8. Maluleke, 29. Musona.
