Premier Soccer League
Teams: Jomo Cosmos 1-0 Polokwane City
Date: 31 October 2015
Venue: Olen Park Stadium
A first half goal from Charlton Mashumba earned Jomo Cosmos maximum points following their slender 1-0 victory over Polokwane City at Olen Park.
The visitors showed their intent from the onset as Cole Alexander had a shot at goal within the first three minutes of the game, but Sherwyn Naicker held on comfortably. Puleng Tlolane was looking threatening in the opening exchanges, but Punch Masenamela kept him at bay.
Very little could separate the two sides as they both went forward looking for the crucial opener, but both defences were proving difficult to break through. Cosmos were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 35th minute when Charlton Mashumba rose above everyone to head home a fine goal, giving Ezenkosi a slim 1-0 lead.
The second stanza started with Tlolane almost grabbing the equalizer, as he forced Naicker into making a superb diving save to keep his 48th minute effort out. City continued to look threatening after the restart, but Brice Aka also had a chance of his own in the 57th minute, which he squandered, failing to hit the target.
The visitors then added numbers to their attacks as they looked to get back into the game with a couple of half-chances created here and there, but nothing could come out of them and Cosmos managed to hold on for a vital win against fellow strugglers Polokwane City.
