Arrows Down Stars In Five-Goal Thriller
Absa Premiership Report: Golden Arrows v Platinum Stars 28 April 2018
Result: Golden Arrows 3-2 Platinum Stars
Date: 28 April 2018
Venue: Princes Magogo Stadium
Golden Arrows claimed another impressive Absa Premiership win by defeating relegated Platinum Stars 3-2 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
Dikwena came into the clash with nothing but pride to play for after their relegation to the National First Division was confirmed on Wednesday evening after their loss to AmaZulu.
Arrows, who impressively saw off Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 last time out, had a couple changes to make with two-goal midweek hero Lerato Lamola suspended, along with Sandile Zuke and Zolani Nkombelo.
The home side started on a high note and they were rewarded in the 18th minute with Knox Mutizwa firing past Mbongeni Mzimela for the lead.
It got better for Clinton Larsen's men on 30 minutes as Danny Venter managed to find the back of the net to double the lead.
That proved to be the final piece of goal-mouth action in the half as Dikwena failed to trouble the Arrows backline.
In the 58th minute, Stars pulled a goal back with, Enocent Mkhabela getting on the scoresheet.
However, with 10 minutes remaining in the half, Arrows restored their two-goal cushion thanks to Mutiwzwa's second goal of the game.
Letsie Koapneg did pull another goal back for Roger de Sa's men in the 90th minute, but Arrows managed to hold out until the final whistle.
