Result: Golden Arrows 2-1 Orlando Pirates
Date: 27 May 2017
Venue: Princes Magogo Stadium
Orlando Pirates finished outside of the top eight of the Absa Premiership after suffering a 2-1 loss to Golden Arrows.
Both sides looked to get off to an encouraging start, as Lerato Lamola forced Jackson Mabokgwane into a good save in the opening 10 minutes.
The Buccaneers eventually broke the deadlock after 19 minutes when Thamsanqa Gabuza headed home Mpho Makola's corner at the near post.
Arrows nearly leveled matters in the 35th minute but Mabokgwane produced a good save to keep to deny Lamola a certain goal.
Five minutes later, Mabokgwane was called upon once again, this time pulling off a good save to keep out Kudakwashe Mahachi's header.
Clinton Larsen's charges ended the first half strongly, but the Buccaneers managed to withstand the pressure and hold on to their 1-0 lead heading into the break.
After a quiet opening to the half, Pirates nearly doubled their advantage 10 minutes into the second half as Ndoro headed over the crossbar from close range.
However, Arrows leveled matters on the hour mark as Lamola found the back of the net, following an error from Mabokgwane.
With the momentum swinging Arrows' way, Kjell Jonevret withdrew Tendai Ndoro for Ayanda Nkosi in the 70th minute.
Nkosi nearly made the perfect impact after 88 minutes but his close range strike was deflected wide of the Arrows upright.
However, it was Arrows who snatched three points in stoppage time thanks to a strike from Knox Mutizwa.
