Giovanni Solinas opted to changes his central pairing as Erick Mathoho and Teenage Hadebe slotted in the defence,

Off the back of a big win in the CAF Confederation Cup Amakhosi were patient in their play early in the encounter and looked comfortable on the ball despite playing in a patchy turf at Princess Magogo.

Kabelo Mahlasela came close to opening the scoring for Chiefs in the 20th minute after collecting a rebound inside the box but his attempted lob over Arrows goalkeeper Maximilian Mbaeva missed just wide.

Abafana Bes'thende were awarded a penalty the 27th minute after Mathoho had brought down Lerato Lamola. Limbikani Mzava stepped up and got enough power behind his effort to beat Itumeleng Khune.

Hadebe the caused another penalty for the visitors three minutes later after bringing down Siboniso Conco inside the box, which allowed Mzava  to step up and slot into the same corner to doubled the lead.

Giovanni Solinas' troops were shell-shocked and failed to show any attacking intent as they went into the break trailing.

After a lively start to the second half, Leonardo Castro reduced the deficit for Solinas' men on the hour-mark to make it 2-1 with a close range finish at the near post after some persistent pressure from the visitors.

The Soweto giants were showing a lot of fighting spirit and were winning second balls constantly threatening to level matters, while Lebogang Manyama replaced Bernard Parker.

Chiefs were applying the right sort of pressure in the last quarter of an hour, pinning back Arrows in their own half getting closer and closer to finding the equaliser.

Billiat came close to finding the equaliser for Amakhosi four minutes before time with an acrobatic over-head kick inside the box that was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Mbaeva.

Musa Bilankulu was red carded in stoppage time for a second bookable offence as Arrows to set up a nervy final few minutes.

However, Chiefs were unable to find an equaliser as Arrows held on for the third league win of the season.

Here's how they lined up:
