Absa Premiership
Result: Golden Arrows 0-2 Bloemfontein Celtic
Date: 08 August 2018
Venue: Princess Magogo Stadium
Steve Komphela's Bloemfontein Celtic maintained their winning start to the Absa Premiership season with a 2-0 victory over Golden Arrows.
Clinton Larsen's men took control from the onset, while Lerato Lamola saw a lot of the ball as he looked to impress against his former employers.
However, it was Steve Komphela's men who broke the deadlock on 22 minutes, with Tshegofatso Mabaso scoring for the second straight encounter.
Arrows looked to hit back moments later but Celtic goalkeeper Patrick Tignyemb was on hand to keep out Lamola's attempted lob.
The hosts dominated the possession in the latter stages of the second half, but were unable to make it count as Celtic took a l-0 lead into the break.
Five minutes into the second half, Celtic doubled their lead thanks to a strike from Kabelo Dlamini.
Tignyemb came to Celtic's rescue midway through the second half, as the shot-stopper did well to deny Lamola in the box.
Arrows continued to throw numbers forward in search of a goal but they were unable to find a way past Tignyemb.
That proved to the trend for the rest of the half, with Arrows dominating but failing to turn their domination into goals.
In the end, the men from the Free State managed to hold on for the victory and clean sheet.
