Arrows Reign Supreme In KZN Derby

Golden Arrows put in a rampant second-half display as they thumped AmaZulu 4-1 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.
Clinton Larsen's charges started the brighter of the two teams in the opening ten minutes with Lerato Lamola chasing lost causes up front.
Lamola punished Usuthu in the 18th minute after their goalkeeper Boafela Pule failed to clear a back-pass, the Arrows' striker pounced on the ball inside the area to score into an empty net, 1-0.
Nkosingiphile Gumede made a brilliant save in the 26th minute to deny Rhulani Manzini from close range.
Sedate Ouro-Akoriko brought Cavin Johnson's charges level in the 34th minute with a gliding free-header at the far post, 1-1.
Abafana Bes'thende were threatening on counter-attacks in the closing stages of the second half but the two teams went into the break level.
In the 56th minute Siphelele Magubane made a brilliant run from the left wing and into the centre just outside the box to fire a low shot into the back of the net, 2-1.
Siyabonga Nomvethe could have brought Usuthu level in the 68th minute but his attempt to chip the goalkeeper Gumede who was out of his area missed inches wide with the net gaping.
Usuthu were pressing for an equaliser after 80 minutes with the hosts mainly playing on the counter-attacks orchestrated by Kudakwashe Mahachi.
Mabhuti Khenyeza fluffed his chance inside the small box to fire the visitors level with only three minutes to go before full-time.
Usuthu had two shots cleared off the line in quick succession in the dying minutes.
Mahachi made it 3-1 in stoppage time racing clear from a counter attack to round off goalkeeper Pule.
Knox Mutizwa scored the fourth goal in the last minute of added time with a volley from six-yards out after a fine run from Lamola.
