Stars Drop Points After Late Chippa Equaliser

The Chilli Boys enjoyed a lion's share of possession in the first 10 minutes with Samuel Julies impressive upfront.

Kurt Lentjies had a good opportunity to open the scoring in the 24th minute, but his free-kick from just outside the box sailed over the bar. 

Daniel Akpeyi denied Luc Eymael's charges the opener in the 38th minute, as he saved Sinethemba Jantjie's strike from close range. 

Stars started to gain momentum five minutes before halftime, after a slow start while United were doing all the defending. 

Jantjie nearly broke the deadlock on the stroke of half time through a free-kick on the edge of the box, but his strike missed inches over the bar. 

The first stanza ended goalless although the two sides were going at each other in an open first half. 

Paulus Masehe had a wonder strike from outside the box 10 minutes into the second half and was unlucky to see his looping strike saved by Akpeyi. 

Stars continued where they left off at the end of the first half and after 65 minutes kept the visitors under tremendous pressure.  

However, United recovered after 75 minutes carving out chances through Moeketsi Sekola and Mpho Mvelase but they could not find the back of the net.

Sekola had another chance ten minutes before time with his strike from the edge of the box going over the bar. 

Edward Manqele broke the deadlock with five minutes to go, following a counter-attack from the hosts, 1-0.

Teboho Moloi's troops responded immediately as James Okwousa levelled matters a minute later, with a header inside the box following a corner by Menzi Masuku.

 
The final five minutes were tense with both sides going for the winner but ultimately they settled for the share of spoils.
