The Buccaneers went with a goalkeeping for the encounter as Wayne Sandilands was withdrawn for Siyabonga Mpontshane after the latter's error against Highlands Park.

It wasn't long before Pirates were in front as Gaona Modisane's attempted clearance sailed into his own net after Justin Shonga's free-kick rattled the woodwork.

Chippa, meanwhile, struggled to get the ball off the Buccaneers in the first half, which led to a lack of clear cut chances.

As a result, they were restricted to efforts from distance and they did go close with one as Komane's strike from 35-yards out nearly caught out Mpontshane.

The Chilli Boys did end the first on a stronger note, but they were let down by their decision-making and went into the break trailing.
Five minutes into the second half, Dan Malesela opted to change things as Thamsanqa Sangweni was introduced against his former employers.
The Buccaneers nearly added a second goal after 54 minutes, but Paseko Mako was denied in the box before Mpho Makola failed to convert the rebound.
The visitors were then reduced to 10 men with 20 minutes to go as Mthokozisi Dube was sent off after picking up his second booking for time-wasting.
Milutin Sredojevic responded by withdrawing Shonga for former Chippa full-back Diamond Thopola for the final 15 minutes of the half.
With Chippa pushing for an equaliser in the closing stages, Abbubaker Mobara was introduced as the Buccaneers looked to hold on for the win.
The Chilli Boys had their chances to level matters but Ruzaigh Gamildien and Klate could not find a way past Mpontshane as Pirates held on for the win.
