Date: 30 November 2018
Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium
AmaZulu moved out of the relegation zone on the Absa Premiership table with a 1-0 victory over Chippa United in Port Elizabeth on Friday evening.
Usuthu, who were looking for their second league win in a row, were showing a lot of attacking intent in the opening stages of the encounter but they lacked the cutting edge in the last third.
Emiliano Tade almost opened the scoring for Cavin Johnson's charges in the 22nd minute with a curling free-kick from the edge of the box that sailed agonisingly over at the top of the crossbar.
As the half went o, clear cut chances were really hard to come by for both chances before the break, with most of the action taking in the middle of the park.
However, Butholezwe Ncube finally broke the deadlock for Usuthu three minutes before halftime with a low strike from inside the box that took a deflection and sneaked in at the near post, 0-1.
Ruzaigh Gamildien had an opportunity to level matters for Chippa ten minutes into the second stanza after going through on the right side of the box, but his powerful strike sailed over the bar.
Gamildien had another chance to bring the Chilli Boys level in the 63rd minute with a low strike at the near post but this time on the left side of the box however his effort was swallowed by the visitors goalkeeper Siyabonga Mbatha.
Eric Tinkler's troops were piling the pressure in search of an equaliser, while Usuthu were desperately holding on for the three points.
Gamildien had the ball in the back of the net for Chippa five minutes before time with a close-range strike, but the goal was disallowed for offside in the build-up to the goal.
Nevertheless, Cavin Johnson's troops managed to see out the remaining stages of the second half to claim three points, which sees move off the foot of the table.
