Modise & Patosi On Target As Benni's CT City Maintain Winning Start

It was a tentative start for both sides as they were trying to settle into the match.  Rain started to pour down in the opening stages, with City looking to take advantage of the conditions.

Patosi came close to opening the scoring in the 14th minute from a direct free-kick just outside of the box, but his shot skimmed on top of the crossbar.

Letsie Koapeng grabbed the lead for the Citizens in the 24th minute from the penalty spot after Lebogang Manyama was brought down in the box.

Patosi could have made it 2-0 just before the break, but his header from close range sailed narrowly wide following good work from Lyle Lakay.

The match went into the interval with the home side deservedly leading 1-0.

The opening 10 minutes of the second-half was scrappy but Stars were camping in the City half in search of an equaliser.

The chances were there for the Citizens on counter-attacks and on the hour-mark Ayanda Patosi made it 2-0 with a superb solo effort in the 61st minute.

Teko Modise was introduced three minutes later for his City debut, and it didn't take him long to make an impact as he turned home Lakay's cross to make it 3-0 after 71 minutes.

Robert Ng'ambi managed to pull one goal back for Dikwena in the 82nd minute with a header from close range, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as City held on for their second straight league win.

How some supporters can blame a coach for yesterday's results is truly beyond me. What was Steve supposed to do? Get in the field and replace Mathoho? When Mathoho got a red card it was clear that Chiefs would loose the match, in fact I think they did well not to loose by an embarrassing margin. Every player at Chiefs has gotten a chance to play and still the goods are not forthcoming . Stop blaming the coach and look at the playing personnel. I understand when people have gripe with the coach because he prefers certain players over others but Steve has played everyone. Jayiya, Buchanan, Maluleka, everyone
