Bevan Fransman almost opened the scoring in the sixth minute, through a well struck free-kick but Shu-Aib Walters, produced a good save to deny the Team of Choice the opener.

The match was played at a fast pace in the first 10 minutes, as both sides showed positive intent going forward.

Sibusiso Masina put the Citizens ahead in the 17th minute, with a looping header inside the box, 1-0.

Maritzburg's Fransman had another chance in the 31st minute with a header, but his effort was cleared on the line.

Mohau Mokate almost brought Fadlu Davids' charges level in the 42nd minute, but his shot from the edge of the box sailed over the crossbar.

The first stanza ended with Benni McCarthy's troops leading 1-0 in a high paced half.

Pogiso Sanoka brought the visitors level 10 minutes into the second half following a good spell of pressure, 1-1.

The Team of Choice played with much more confidence, as Mokate extended the lead in the 65th minute to 2-1 with a side-footed finish inside the box.

Mokate completed his brace three minutes later, as the pressure from the Team of Choice yielded yet another goal, 1-3.

McCarthy brought on Lyle Lakay in the 75th minute, in place of goal scorer Masina as they looked reduce the deficit.

Five minutes later, Davids made a change of his own as he brought on defender Brian Onyango in place of Mokate.

Lakay pulled a goal back two minutes before time, to give the Mother City club hope into the last minutes.

However, Siphesihle Ndlovu found the back of the net in the last minute to seal a 4-2 win for the Team of Choice.
