Brilliant Billiat Leads Chiefs To Big Victory In Cape Town

Kaizer Chiefs registered their first win of the Absa Premiership season with an impressive 4-1 win over Cape Town City, with Khama Billiat playing a starring role.

After a lively start, Siyabonga Ngezana grabbed the lead for Amakhosi in the 11th minute with a close range header at the near post following some good work from Willard Katsande to head the ball back in the box.

The Citizens did not sit back as Matthew Rusike levelled matters for the Citizens in the 25th minute with a free header at the near post after the Chiefs defence was caught napping from a corner.
 
Leonardo Castro, who got an ankle knock earlier in the match, could not continue for the hosts ten minutes before halftime and was replaced by Bernard Parker.
 
City nearly snatched the lead just before the break as Surprise Ralani hit the upright from close range as the sides went into the break all square.
 
Five minutes after the break, Billiat restored the lead for Giovanni Solinas’ men five minutes after the break with a diving header into the bottom corner following a teasing cross from Parker, 1-2.
 
Billiat had a chance to get a brace and give Amakhosi a two-goal cushion on the hour-mark after going through towards the box with great pace, but he fired wide after entering the box.
 
The turning point of the game arrived after 67 minutes when Benni McCarthy’s troops were reduced to ten men after Taariq Fielies recieved a red card for a second bookable offence.
 
Chiefs took full advantage of the numerical as Solinas as injected fresh legs on the park, with  Lebogang Manyama making way for Philani Zulu.
 
Billiat then completed his brace and made it 3-1 for Amakhosi with 11 minutes remaining after pouncing on a loose ball inside the box with a clinical strike.
 
Substitute Zulu completed the rout for AmaKkhosi in the last minute with a low strike inside the box after he was sent through by Hendrick Ekstein on a counter.
