CT City Edge Arrows To Cement Third Spot

Cape Town City have cemented third spot in the Absa Premiership after recording a 1-0 win over Golden Arrows on Wednesday evening.

In the eighth minute Siphelele Magubani floated a fantastic through ball towards Limbikani Mzava inside the penalty area however the latter's header went wide.
 
Lehlohonolo Majoro had a fantastic chance to grab the lead for the home side in the 17th minute after being put through on goal by Thamsanqa Mkhize, but his shot sailed narrowly wide.
 
After 30 minutes, Abafana Bes'thende were dominating the play going forward while City were looking to hit the visitors on the break.
 
Matome Mathiane went close to breaking the deadlock in the 42nd minute but his curling free-kick came off the woodwork.
 
The first-half ended goalless.
 
The Citizens started the second half stronger than they finished the first. In the 55th minute Majoro had a chance from just outside the box following a corner but his shot went narrowly wide.
 
The dressing room instructions seemed to have been heard by Tinkler's boys as they were putting more pressure on Abafana Bes'thende. 
 
Kudakwashe Mahachi had chance to break the deadlock after 64 minutes, but his left-footed shot from the edge of the right box went agonisingly wide of the far post.
 
Majoro had another chance to break the deadlock but his shot missed after being clear on goal, before Judas Moseamedi forced Nkosingiphile Gumede into a fine save.
 
With time running out, City were awarded a penalty after 85 minutes. Lebogang Manyama stepped up but struck his effort against the woodwork.
 
City eventually secured the win in stoppage time when Musa Bilankulu deflected Aubrey Ngoma's cross into his own net, 1-0.
