Arrows Down Stuttering City In Cape Town

Absa Premiership

Result: Cape Town City 0-1 Golden Arrows

Date: 4 April 2018

Venue: Cape Town Stadium

Lerato Lamola's second-half strike was enough to hand Golden Arrows a 1-0 win over Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership on Wednesday evening.

The Citizens were looking to return to winning ways, having suffered back-to-back defeats in all competitions coming into the clash.

However, the clash got off to a slow start as both sides looked to find their rhythm in the opening 10 minutes.

Maximilian Mbaeva was called into action after 15 minutes as the Arrows shot-stopper produced a fine save to keep out Lyle Lakay's effort.

The game's next chance arrived five minutes before the break when Lakay cut inside his marker before curling one at goal, but once again Mbaeva was on hand to make the save.

Five minutes into the second half, Arrows took the lead as Danny Venter played in Lerato Lamola, who calmly finished past Sage Stephens.

Benni McCarthy responded by introducing Craig Martin for Surprise Ralani in the 56th minute.

Stephens came to the Citizens' rescue in the 62nd minute as he produced a fine save to keep out Venter's strike which seemed destined for the top corner.

City threw on Allan Kateregga and Ebrahim Seedat for the final 15 minutes of the half in pursuit of an equaliser.

However, Clinton Larsen's men remained water-tight at the back and held on for a vital victory on the road.

Here's how they lined up:
