Result: Cape Town City 1-2 Bidvest Wits
Date: 24 February 2018
Venue: Athlone Stadium
Lehlohonolo Majoro netted a brace against his former club as Bidvest Wits claimed a 2-1 win over Cape Town City at the Athlone Stadium.
Wits suffered a blow after 18 minutes when Gabadinho Mhango was forced off with injury. He was replaced by Vicent Pule.
City suffered an injury of their own five minutes later when Matthew Rusike was taken off, Nana Akosah-Bempah taking his place.
Chances were few and far between in the opening stanza, despite both sides picking attacking lineups.
Wits finally broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a strike from City striker Majoro, 0-1.
City would eventually level matters in the 58th minute when Craig Martin fired a fine effort past Darren Keet at the far post.
However, the Clever Boys restored their lead in the 73rd minute when Majoro netted his second by turning home Sifiso Hlanti's cross.
With the second half drawing to a close, Gavin Hunt threw on Cole Alexander for Keagan Ritchie as they looked to see out the rest of the half.
The Clever Boys managed to see off a late surge from the Citizens to claim a valuable victory on the road.
