Cape Town City maintained top spot in the Absa Premiership after playing out a 1-1 draw with Bidvest Wits, who leapfrogged Kaizer Chiefs into second spot.
The Clever Boys were awarded a penalty after just four minutes when Phakamani Mahlambi was brought down. The young winger stepped up and converted the spot-kick, 0-1.
Mahlambi had a bit of joy down the flanks, while Sifiso Myeni also looked lively for the visitors in the opening 20 minutes.
City squandered a chance to level matters in the 31st minute when Judas Moseamedi headed over the crossbar, after Darren Keet had fumbled in the box.
Eric Tinkler's charges ended the half as the stronger of the two sides,with Ebrahim Seedat went close with an effort from distance.
The hosts passed up another chance on the stroke of halftime when Sibusiso Masina scuffed his effort from inside the box.
With City struggling to break down the Wits defence, Tinkler introduced Lehlohonolo Majoro for Thabo Nodada in the 58th minute.
The hosts eventually leveled matters on 71 minutes as Tshepo Gumede headed home Aubrey Ngoma's free-kick at the near post, 1-1.
Both sides pushed for a winning goal as the second half went on, while Tinkler brought on Edmilson for Seedat in the closing stages.
However, neither side could carve out an opening in the closing stages and were forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
