Result: Bloemfontein Celtic 0-0 Golden Arrows
Date: 10 April 2016
Venue: Dr Molemela Stadium
Bloemfontein Celtic were held to a goalless draw by a resilient Golden Arrows outfit in a tightly contested Absa Premiership clash on Sunday afternoon.
Both sides had a rather conservative approach in the opening few minutes as they tried to avoid conceding an early goal.
Although, Nduduzo Sibiya had a solid effort well saved by Patrick Tignyemb in the 18th minute as Arrows started to pile on the pressure.
The visitors continued to push forward but not many opportunities could come in the first stanza as the teams headed into the break deadlocked at 0-0.
The second stanza started in similar fashion to the first, but Lantshene Phalane tested Maximilian Mbaevu in the visitors’ goals with a 69th minute strike.
The clash was proving to be quite a physical affair as both sets of players had a go at each other, while Nkanyiso Mngwengwe was sent off in the 75th minute for a second bookable offence.
Lyle Lakay almost made use of the extra man advantage in the 84th minute as he went for goal, but the Celtic winger dragged his shot just wide of the target.
The match would finally end 0-0 after a heated last few minutes, as the sides exchanged some fierce challenges.
