Absa Premiership
Full Time: Bloemfontein Celtic 0-0 AmaZulu
Date: 30 March 2014
Venue: Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium
It was not the most exciting Saturday afternoon at the Kaizer Sebothelo Stadium as Bloemfontein Celtic and AmaZulu played to a goalless stalemate in the Absa Premiership.
It was a slow start to the game by both sides as neither were able to keep hold of the ball for sustained periods of play.
Instead, the opening stages of the match was characterized with poor passing and bad decision making in the final third of the field.
This resulted in very few chances on goal early on.
In fact, the first decent effort on goal came in the 27th minute when Mogogi Gabonamong met a cross from Wandisile Letlabika, but the Celtic man headed his effort wide.
Ten minutes later Musa Nyatama fired a 30-yard free-kick just wide of the left-hand post.
AmaZulu, while seeing their fair share of the ball, only had their first decent effort on goal two minutes before the break when Bongani Ndulula met a cross from Marc Van Heerden, but he directed his header over the crossbar.
The two combined again four minutes after the break, but again Ndulua headed Van Heerden’s cross wide of goal.
The next decent effort on goal only came in the 69th minute and went the way of Celtic when Joel Mogorosi let fly from distance, but he saw his effort superbly saved by Philani Zikalala.
Four minutes later Van Heerden flashed a free-kick inches wide of the post.
Neither team could go on to find the winner as the points were shared.
