Luc Eymael's men entered the tie looking for a second successive league victory while Usuthu were looking to put an end to a three-game winless run.

Leopards looked lively from the onset as the likes of Lesedi Kapinga and Thabo Matlaba tried their luck from distance in the opening stages.

The home side had the ball in the back of the net after 25 minutes through Robert Ng'ambi's strike, however celebrations were cut short as the goal was flagged offside.

Usuthu may have one of the league's top scorers in Bonginkhosi Ntuli with seven goals, although he is the only to find the back of the net this season for the club.

It was quite evident why Ntuli was the only player to get goals as the visitors squandered an opening shortly after the halftime break when Lehlohonolo Majoro blazed over the crossbar from close range.

While there was no change in Usuthu's fortunes upfront, head coach Jozef Vukusic introduced  Talent Chawapihwa for For Jabulani Ncobeni for the final 20 minutes.

The visitors almost snatched victory with 12 minutes remaining Chawapihwa picked out Ntuli in the box, but Jonas Mendes rushed off his line to deny the striker.

Both sides went in search of a winner in the closing stages but were unable to carve out an opening as the spoils were shared at Thohoyandou Stadium.

Here's how they lined up:
