Daine Klate had a chance to hand SuperSport the lead after 23 minutes, but he blazed his effort over the crossbar.
Mokoena could have given SuperSport the lead after the 30 minute mark, but the young midfielder blazed his effort over the crossbar.
Ronwen Williams came to the visitors' rescue just before the halftime break, as he produced a good save to keep out Gabadinho Mhango's strike.
It was a scrappy affair in the opening 45 minutes and the sides went into break with the score level at 0-0.
SuperSport eventually broke the deadlock in the 67th minute as Thuso Phala calmly lifted the ball over an on-rushing Josephs.
Phakamani Mahlambi had a chance to level matters for Wits in the 75th minute but his volley sailed just wide of the upright from close range.
Jeremy Brockie had a chance to put the game beyond Wits in the 80th minute, but Josephs rushed off his line to deny the striker.
Nonetheless, the score remained 1-0 to the Tshwane outfit who keep their title hopes alive.
