Wits Net Late To Break Polokwane Hearts
Absa Premiership Report: Bidvest Wits v Polokwane City 22 April 2018
Result: Bidvest Wits 1-1 Polokwane City
Date: 22 April 2018
Venue: Bidvest Stadium
Bidvest Wits scored in the dying minutes of the second half to earn themselves a 1-1 draw with Polokwane City on Sunday afternoon.
After a quiet opening to the game, The Clever Boys went close to breaking the deadlock after 10 minutes but goalkeeper George Chigova produced a fine save to deny Vincent Pule.
It was one-way traffic in the first half, with the hosts doing most of the attacking, although they often found Chigova at his best.
Rise and Shine were then dealt a blow on 32 minutes when the goalkeeper had to be substituted due to injury.
The visitors had to wait until the 44th minute for their first real opening, with Rodney Ramagalela pulling his effort just wide from close range.
Polokwane took the lead five minutes into the second half, with Thapelo Tshilo heading past Kyle Peters at the far post.
The goal seemed to spark life into the visitors as they went close to bagging a second on 60 minutes but Sulumba was denied by a fine save from Peters.
Wits went agonisingly close to leveling matters in the 79th minute when Granwald Scott's cross crashed onto the upright.
Gavin Hunt's charges threw numbers forward in search of an equaliser and they were rewarded in the 90th minute, with Pule finding the back of the net to seal a point for the hosts.
