Absa Premiership champions Bidvest Wits started the year with defeat after going down 1-0 to Free State Stars at the Bidvest Stadium.
The loss sees Gavin Hunt's charges remain rooted to the bottom of the table, two points behind 15th place Ajax Cape Town, who also lost on Friday night.
Edwin Gyimah and Lehlohonolo were handed their debuts for the hosts, while Sifiso Myeni also went straight into line up after he was re-called from his loan spell at SuperSport.
Majoro looked lively in the opening exchanges and he could have broken the deadlock for Wits after six minutes but he failed to keep his header on target.
With 20 minutes gone, the Clever Boys were in full control as they dictated play, although the struggled to bypass the Stars defence,.
However, it was the visitors who broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute as Thamsanqa Teyise found the back of the net with a fine volley.
With five minutes remaining in the half, Wits nearly pulled themselves level when Majoro picked out Daylon Claasen, who sent a volley just wide from close range.
That proved to be the final chance of the half as Stars went into the break leading by a lone goal.
Majoro was having an eventful debut and he could have restored parity on the hour mark, but he failed to slot past Ea Lla Koto shot-stopper Badra Sangare after being played through on goal.
Eight minutes later, Gavin Hunt opted for a change as Daine Klate made way for Vicent Pule.
The Clever Boys threw numbers forward in search as the likes of Amr Gamal and Buhle Mkhwanazi had a couple chances with 15 minutes remaining.
Unfortunately for the home side, Stars were resolute at the back and managed to keep Wits at bay as the hold on for a valuable victory.
