Conditions at the Bidvest stadium were no suited for a passing game, which led to a lot scrappy play in the opening 15 minutes.

Despite the conditions, Wits still had the upper hand in terms of possession although they failed to carve out any clear cut chances.

In the 34th minute, Tashreeq Morris looked to use the slippery conditions in his favour with a strike from distance but Darren Keet got down well to save the effort.

Both sides were limited to efforts from distance in the remaining 10 minutes with Ajax's Thabo Mosadi curling one wide of the upright just before the break.

The Clever Boys continued to dominate upon resumption in the second half, while the Urban Warriors were quite content to sit back and soak up the pressure.

With Wits pushing for a the opening goal, Gavin Hunt introduced James Keene for Mhango after 69 minutes.

The home side should have been ahead aftr 75 minutes but Amr Gamal placed his effort wide from point blank range.

Stanley Menzo opted for a change with eight minutes remaining as Morris made way for Sedwyn George.
