Arrows Cement Fourth Spot With Late Winner

Absa Premiership

Result: Baroka 0-1 Golden Arrows

Date: 27 November 2019

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Golden Arrows maintained fourth spot in the Absa Premiership with a 1-0 victory away to struggling Baroka FC on Wednesday evening.

Arrows were eager to get the spirits up once again after being knocked out of the Telkom Knockout by Mamelodi Sundowns over the weekend while Baroka were looking to build on their win over Polokwane City.

The hosts began the encounter with the right intent and had Arrows under pressure from the onset, as Arrows' Nkosinathi Sibisi had two vital defensive clearances to make in the opening 15 minutes.

Baroka went even closer ten minutes later as Goodman Mosele skipped past Gladwin Shitolo before unleashing an effort from distance that rattled the crossbar.

Arrows, meanwhile, struggled to get their attacking going in the opening 45 minute as Baroka shot-stopper Elvis Chipezeze enjoyed a quiet first half between the sticks.

Steve Komphela's troops came out firing in the second half and nearly found themselves in front after 50 minutes, but Chipepeze was on hand to keep out Knox Mutizwa's header.

Baroka were handed a lifeline just after the hour mark after being awarded penalty, however Vusi Sibiya was unable to capatalise after sending his effort wide from 12-yards out.

Both sides pushed for a winning goal in the latter stages of the second half, but it was Arrows who were rewarded on 89 minutes thanks to Danny Venter's header to seal three points.

Here's how they lined up:
