Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
Mpho Kgaswane's goal downs Free State Stars as Baroka make it two wins in a row, as they claimed a 1-0 win at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The hosts Baroka FC showed intent of taking the game to their visitors as they kept the ball quite well with the likes of Lucky Nguzana and Talent Chawapihwa threatening to unlock the Free State Stars defense.
It took just over fifteen minutes for a real opportunity to arise as a ball was played over the Stars defense to find the run of Nguzana but the forward placed his shot wide of goal with keeper to beat.
Baroka kept probing and were threatening in attack. Sipho Moeti created space in the middle just outside the box and his low shot was well saved by Badra Ali Sangare.
Free State Stars created a chance of their own through a counter attack when Sinethemba Jantjie went through one on one with the keeper. Virgil Vries came quickly off his line and forced the Stars winger wide of the goals and the visitors were unable to capitalize on that opportunity.
Moeti countered again for Baroka before the break but his shot was saved and the teams went into the break tied at 0-0.
Lucky Nguzana was making a menace of himself to the Stars defense but was unable to find the target as he fired yet another shot wide of goal.
Baroka were the only team looking likely to score and they had another opportunity on the 75th minute mark through a swift counter attack. Gift Motupa was at the end of the move but his attempt went wide of the mark.
The deadlock was deservedly broken with five minutes remaining after a good run into the box by Mpho Kgaswane saw the forward drive the ball into the back of the net.
Mduduzi Mdantsane had a glorious chance to put the game to bed when he was alone in the Stars box but he surprisingly placed his shot wide of the target.
He wouldn't be made to rue his missed chance though as Baroka managed to hold on to their lead and claimed all three points.
