Mark Mayambela's impressive first-half strike was enough to hand Ajax Cape Town a 1-0 win over bottom place, Highlands Park at the Cape Town Stadium.
The Urban Warriors broke the deadlock after eight minutes as Mark Mayambela combined with Prince Nxumalo, before calmly lifting the ball over Kapini, 1-0.
Highlands nearly pulled level in the 13th minute but Peter Shalulile headed wide of Jody February's upright from close range.
Both sides showed attacking intent in the opening 45 minutes, but were let down by their decision-making in the final third.
Gordon Igesund's charges squandered another chance to level matters just before the break, as Brandon Theron failed to hit the target from point-blank range.
Stanley Menzo opted for a change after 52 minutes as Bantu Mzwakali made way for Lebogang Mokoena.
The Urban Warriors went close to adding a second goal in 64th minute but Thabo Mosadi rattled the upright from close range.
With Highlands pushing for an equaliser, Ajax threw on defender Lawrence Lartey for Kabwe in the 78th minute as they looked to shut up shop.
The Lions of the North nearly leveled matters in the 84th minute, but Collins Mbesuma could only head over from close range.
Nonetheless, the score remained 1-0 to the Urban Warriors who register their first win of 2017.
