It was a lone goal in the second half from Travis Graham that handed the Urban Warriors their first win of the season, against the reigning PSL champions.
Katlego Mashego had the first chance for Sundowns in the tenth minute, but his snap shot after getting the ball from an industrious Elias Pelembe, flew over the bar.

Mame Niang came close three minutes into the second half, but he was unable to get his header from a Tebogo Langerman cross on target, and it sailed wide.
Two minutes later Ajax grabbed the lead, when new captain Travis Graham scored from the edge of the area with a good shot, after Nathan Paulse had laid the ball back for him.

A minute later Modise had a chance, but it lacked any power and Anssi Jaakkola saved easily.
Paulse almost doubled the home team’s lead in the 74th minute, but he couldn’t direct his header, and it went over the goal.
Hlompho Kekana tried a first time shot in the 78th minute, but he miscued his shot and it went high and wide.
With five minutes to go Ntuli broke through the middle and ran into the box, but Abubakar Mobara made life difficult for him and his final shot went just wide to the left of goal.
