‘David v Goliath’ is an understatement as the Absa Premiership leaders Kaizer Chiefs host bottom of the table Golden Arrows in a league match at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night.
The match is scheduled to get underway at 19h30.
15 places and 36 points separate the two teams on the league table. The Amakhosi are at the top of the pile with 49 points from 22 games while Arrows are at the bottom of the log with 13 points from 22 games.
Chiefs will look to continue Arrows’ woes this season and will be confident of victory considering they have yet to lose a league match at home this season.
Chiefs also come into this match looking to please their fans after their exit from the CAF Champions League on the weekend, following a 3-2 aggregate loss to AS Vita Club over two legs.
Chiefs were last in action on the weekend at home in the second leg of their CAF Champions League last 16 match and they registered an impressive 2-0 win.
The Amakhosi’s last outing also saw them bag two goals after beating Ajax Cape Town 2-0.
Arrows suffered a fifth successive league defeat when they were beaten 1-0 at home by Bidvest Wits on Saturday.
The Durban side has claimed just three points from their 10 away matches so far this season.
In head-to-head stats, Chiefs and Arrows have met in 27 league matches since 2000/01.
The Amakhosi have 14 wins compared to six for Abafana Bes’thende, while seven matches have been drawn.
Chiefs have won eight of their 13 home matches against Arrows, suffering three defeats in the process.
When the teams met earlier this season, the Amakhosi won 1-0 in Durban thanks to a penalty from Bernard Parker.
