Kaizer Chiefs’ attacking midfielder George Maluleka has commended his teammates and technical staff for sticking together in these tough times.
The Amakhosi managed to pick up their first win of the 2016/17 season following a 1-0 win over Highlands Park in an Absa Premiership match on Wednesday night.
George Lebese scored the game’s only goal from the penalty spot. This comes after Chiefs lost their first two matches of the season against Bidvest Wits and Cape Town City before picking up a point against Platinum Stars last week.
Now, with a win under their belt Maluleka is confident Chiefs will start to get results.
“I want to thank the technical team and my teammates for supporting each other during this difficult time for us,” said Maluleka.
“It was very important for us to make sure we stayed compact and not to conceded goals against Highlands because we knew we would create a lot of chances in front of goal. Luckily, we got a goal.
“The difference was the chance that we got (the penalty), we managed to put it away. It was a penalty, but we created it.
“We stuck together as a team and we fought until the end.”
