Player Ratings: Chiefs V Aces

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the players following Kaizer Chiefs’ 1-0 win over MP Black Aces in an Absa Premiership match at FND Stadium on Tuesday night, 27 October 2015.

Kaizer Chiefs

Itumeleng Khune: 8

He had a great game between the posts for Chiefs and made a number of crucial saves. He was quickly off his line to clear a through-ball for Masina in the 22nd minute. He made a rather comfortable save to deny Manyama from a 22-yard free-kick in the 56th minute. He made a great save in the 74th minute when he touched a deflected cross onto the post. He made a great one-on-one save in the 93rd minute to deny Moseamedi.

Siboniso Gaxa: 6

He had an average game in his right-role. He defended well, but did not get forward that much in attack.

Erick Mathoho: 6.5

He had a solid game at centre-back. He marshalled the defence well and kept the Aces attack at bay for the most part. He could have got forward more in attack.

Ivan Bukenya: 6

He had a good game in the centre of defence He defended well, but was not a real threat in attack at set-pieces.

Tsepo Masilela: 6.5

He had a good game in his left-back role. He defended well and got forward in attack down the flank which created numerous problems for the Aces defence.

Siphiwe Tshabalala: 7

He was a constant threat in attack in his midfield role, both with shots on goal and crosses into the box. He had a shot from just outside the box in the 16th minute which was well-saved by the keeper. He tried a clever chip from 40-yards out on the counter-attack after spotting the keeper off his line, but his effort went just wide. He fired over the crossbar from 20-yards out in the 72nd minute.

Lucky Baloyi: 6.5

He had a solid game in his defensive midfield role. He did what was required of him and broke up attacks in front of the back four.

Reneilwe Letsholonyane: 6

He had a rather quiet game in the heart of the Chiefs midfield. He performed his defensive duties well, but did not offer much in terms of creativity going forward. He was substituted in the 67th minute.

George Lebese: 7

He had a good game in his attacking midfield role down the left. He created the game’s opening goal with a left wing cross which Abraw headed home. He tired in the second half and was substituted in the 73rd minute.

Camaldine Abraw: 7

He started a little slowly, but found his way in the game after finding the back of the net. He scored the game’s opening goal in the 32nd minute after heading home a left wing cross from Lebese. He provided a good pass from the right for Manqele in the 42nd minute which the latter fired over from eight-yards out. He had a long range shot in the 59th minute which was well-saved by the keeper. He had another long range shot in the 63rd minute, but saw his effort punched away by the keeper. He fired inches wide from 18-yards out in the 91st minute.

Edward Manqele: 6.5

He did not really see much of the ball, but worked hard off-the-ball to create space for his teammates. He fired over from eight-yards out after latching onto a pass from Abraw in the first half. He was substituted in the 78th minute.

Substitutes

Willard Katsande: 6

He came on in the 67th minute and did his job defensively in the midfield by denying the Aces attackers space.

George Maluleka: 6

He came on in the 73rd minute and was not really in the game. He did what was required of him in midfield to keep the game locked at 1-0.

Bernard Parker: 6

He came on in the 78th minute and was not really in the game. He did what was required of him in midfield to keep the game locked at 1-0.

MP Black Aces

Shu-Aib Walters: 6.5

He had a relatively good game between the sticks for Aces. He made a good save in the 16th minute to deny Tshabalala from just outside the box. He made a good save in the 59th minute to deny Abraw from long range.

Vincent Kobola: 5.5

He looked good early on in the first half and got forward down the right flank, but as the half progressed he struggled in defence up against the likes of Lebese and Masilela. He was booked in the 34th minute for a foul on Lebese. He was substituted in the 46th minute.

Limbikani Mzava: 6.5

He had quite a good game in the centre of defence and kept the Chiefs attackers at bay for the most part. He did well in the 50th minute to stop a counter-attack that looked certain to end in a goal when he cleared off the foot of Abraw from eight-yards out of his own goal.

Ashraf Hendricks: 6

He had a quiet game in his centre-back role. He struggled with the pace of Abraw and Manqele which allowed them too much time on the ball.

Lehlohonolo Nonyane: 7

He had a quiet first half in his left-back role, but came to life in the second half, especially in attack. He provided a good cross for Masina in the 70th minute from the left, but the striker touched it just wide from close range. He provided a good cross from the left for Mbesuma in the 80th minute, but he headed wide.

Tshidiso Tukane: 6

He did not offer much in his right-midfield role. He struggled defensively to keep an eye on Lebese and did not offer much in attack.

Thanduyise Khuboni: 6

He had a quiet game in the centre of midfield. He did his job defensively, but did not offer much in terms of creativity going forward.

Given Mashikinya: 5.5

He was never really in the game and had very little impact. He was substituted in the 62nd minute.

Lebogang Manyama: 7

He was one of Aces more attacking players and was constant threat in attack. He saw a thunderous 22-yard shot deflected just over the crossbar in the ninth minute. He was given a yellow card in the 39th minute for a foul on Masilela. He saw a 22-yard free-kick of his easily saved by Khune in the 56th minute. He had a long range shot in the 64th minute which went inches wide of the post.

Sibusiso Masina: 6.5

He looked lively in attack and was threat going forward, but his finishing was poor. He fired a shot just wide of the post in the second minute after using his pace to break free. He had a 24-yard shot that went just wide of the post in the 19th minute. He tried a long range shot in the 52nd minute that sailed well-wide of the goal. He met a Nonyane cross from the left in the 70th minute, but touched it wide. He was substituted in the 81st minute.

Collins Mbesuma: 6.5

He had a good game and controlled the attacking play for Aces, but did not have many chances on goal himself. He headed wide from close range in the 80th minute after latching onto a left wing cross.

Substitutes

Mpho Matsi: 6

He came on in the 46th minute in place of Kobola who had been booked. He had a quiet game and had very little positive influence on the game.

Aubrey Modiba: 6.5

He came on in the 62nd minute and had a positive impact on the game. He provided a left wing cross in the 74th minute which deflected of Gaxa and was saved by Khune as the goalkeeper pushed the effort onto the post.

Judas Moseamedi: 6

Came on in the 81st minute and had a chance to earn his side a share of the spoils in the 93rd minute, but was denied in a one-on-one with Khune.
