Player Ratings: Chiefs V Arrows

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the players following Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 win over Golden Arrows in an Absa Premiership match on Tuesday, 3 November 2015.

Kaizer Chiefs

Itumeleng Khune: 6.5

He had a quiet game between the sticks and did not have much to do. He organsided his defence well and there was nothing he could do to stop the goal.

Kgotso Moleko: 7

He had a good game in his right-back position. He defended well and also got forward down the flank in attack. He won a penalty for Chiefs in the fifth minute after driving into the box from the right and being pulled down.

Erick Mathoho: 6.5

He had a solid game in his centre back role. He defended well and made some crucial defensive tackles. He could have offered more in attack at set-pieces.

Ivan Bukenya: 6.5

Defended well in his centre-back role. He read the game well and cut out dangerous attacks with well-timed tackles. He met a left-sided free-kick from Lebese in the 39th minute, but headed over the target.

Tsepo Masilela: 6

He had a relatively quiet game by his standards. He defended well, but was not that threatening in attack.

Bernard Parker: 7

He had a good game in his right-sided midfield role. He created scoring opportunities for his teammates and scored a goal as well. He had a 24-yard shot in the 14th minute which was superbly saved by the keeper. He had a 16-yard shot well-saved in the 36th minute. He scored his side’s third goal in the 78th minute after a swift counter-attack.

Willard Katsande: 6.5

He had his usual consistent game in the defensive role in midfield. He was a buffer in front of the back four and also got forward a few times in attack. He fired a long range shot just over in the 75th minute. He headed a Parker cross over the target late in the game.

Pule Ekstein: 7

He had a good game in his attacking midfield role. He brought flair and excitement with him. His passing was also good and he caused a few threats on goal. He had a long range shot on goal in the 43rd minute which sailed over the target. He fired inches over the target from the edge of the box in the 56th minute. He was substituted in the 84th minute.

Lucky Baloyi: 7

He had a good game in the midfield. He performed his defensive duties well and was also a threat in attack. He played a great through ball for Manqele in the 13th minute, but he was stopped by the keeper. He had a long range shot in the 29th minute, but saw his attempt well-saved.

George Lebese: 8

He had a great game in his attacking midfield role and was a constant threat in attack. He did make one mistake, however, that led to his side conceding. He scored from the penalty spot in the sixth minute. He scored his second after following up on a shot that was initially blocked in the 23rd minute. He gave the ball away on the half way line which resulted in Dube scoring against Chiefs. He fired inches wide of the target from 14-yards out on the half hour mark. He started the build-up that led to the third goal in the 78th minute. He was substituted in the 82nd minute. He was given the ‘man of the match’ award.

Edward Manqele: 6

He did a lot of running off the ball and had a few chances on goal, but his finishing was poor. He broke through on goal in the 13th minute, but was superbly denied in a one-on-one with the keeper. He was substituted in the 69th minute

Substitutes

Siphelele Mthmebu: 7

He came on in the 69th minute and had a positive impact on the game. He was booked in the 71st minute. He made his side’s third goal in the 78th minute with a pin-point cross from the left.

Sula Matovu: N/A

He came on in the 82nd minute and did not have enough time to make an impact.

George Maluleka: N/A

He came on in the 84th minute and did not have enough time to make an impact.

Golden Arrows

Maximilian Mbaeva: 7.5

He had a great game between the posts and made numerous good saves. Had it not have been for him Arrows would have lost by a lot more. He made a great one-on-one save in the 13th minute to deny Manqele. He made a superb acrobatic save in the 14th minute to deny Parker from 24-yards out. He made a good save in the 29th minute to deny Baloyi from long range. He made a good save in the 36th minute to deny Parker from just inside the box. He made a few great saves late in the game as well.

Siyabonga Dube: 7

He was one of the better Arrows players. He defended well and also got forward in attack down the right flank. He scored a spectacular goal in the 51st minute from 22-yards out. He fired just over from 16-yards out in the 74th minute.

Nkanyiso Mngwengwe: 5.5

He struggled in defence, especially dealing with the pace of the Chiefs attack.

Trevor Mathiane: 5.5

He found it hard to keep tabs on the Chiefs defenders and was often caught out. He fouled Moleko inside the box to concede a penalty in the fifth minute and received a yellow card.

Thembela Sikhakhane: 6

He had a quiet game in his left-back role. He defended well, but could have offered more in attack.

Kudakwashe Mahachi: 6

He was not really in the game much and struggled to get his foot on the ball. He was substituted in the 64th minute.

Gladwin Shitolo: 5

He was not his usually creative self in the Arrows midfield. He struggled to get his foot on the ball and did not have much of an impact on the game. He was shown a straight red card in the 48th minute for a studs-up tackle on Baloyi.

Nkanyiso Cele: 6

He had a very quiet game in the heart of the Arrows midfield. He was kept out of the gam eby the marking of Baloyi and Katsande.

Deon Hotto: 6

He had a quiet game in his left-midfield role. He was nowhere really to be seen.

Mabhuti Khenyeza: 6

He blew hot and cold. He looked dangerous at times when on the ball, but saw it very rarely. He was shown a yellow card in the 30th minute. He had a 16-yard shot on goal in 42nd minute, but it went over the crossbar. He was substituted in the 64th minute

Andile Fikizolo: 6

He was never really in the game and saw little of the ball. He was shown a yellow card in the 34th minute.

Substitutes

Mwape Musonda: 6

Came on in the 64th minute to try and spark life into his team, but failed to do so as he saw little of the ball.

Rodney Ramagalela: 6

Came on in the 64th minute to try and spark life into his team, but failed to do so as he saw little of the ball.
