Sredojevic Says His Pirates Players Are Lions
Absa Premiership, Orlando Pirates Coach Milutin Sredojevic, 25 February 2018
Following his side’s come-from-behind 4-2 victory over Chippa United on Sunday, Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic says his players are lions and deserve to wear the club’s badge.
The Buccaneers coach was proud of his team’s display but said they still have some work to do before facing Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto derby next weekend.
“First of all we played against a top team that pulled the best out of us today,” Sredojevic told SuperSport after the game.
“We didn’t have the best first half. We conceded that goal because we allowed our opponent to attack us from midfield, but we were good enough to equalise with a penalty.
“At half-time, we told the team to settle down and reset.
“In the second half, we went all out and scored that important second goal. Then against the run of play we conceded the second goal, but we showed today as a team that we have winning character.
“We attacked at the end and scored those two goals and won a game in a place where not many teams would win.
“We will now forget about this win and focus on the next game against Chiefs.
“But congratulations to the boys for following my instructions to the detail today. They have shown they are lions and deserve to carry the Pirates badge.
“But there are a lot of critical aspects that we need to improve on in the next few days before we face Chiefs.”
