Celtic Up To Third

Absa Premiership

Result: University of Pretoria 0-2 Bloemfontein Celtic

Date: 27 September 2015

Venue: Tuks Stadium

Helder Pelembe bagged a brace as Bloemfontein Celtic recorded a 2-0 win over the University of Pretoria at the Tuks Stadium.

The opening exchanges proved to a cagey affair, as both sides struggled to keep possession, which resulted in no shots at goal for most of the half.

AmaTuks nearly broke the deadlock in the 40th minute when Kabede found space from 25-yards out but his curling effort was palmed away by Tingyem.

However, Celtic opened the scoring a minute when Helder Pelembe turned home a cross Matuka's low cross from the left flank.

It didn't take long for Celtic to double their lead, as Pelembe showed great footwork, before firing home a low effort from a tight angle inside the first minute of the second half.

Washington Arubi had to be at his best in the 62nd minute, as he pulled off a fine save to keep out Phalane's stinging effort from 25-yards out.

AmaTuks came close to reducing the deficit two minutes later but Khethukuthula Zwane's long range effort sailed just wide of the mark.

The hosts started creating more chances in the final 20 minutes and they went close in the 74th when Nyondo's glancing header flew wide of the upright.

Geofrey Massa could have registered a goal against his former employers in the 80th minute, as he skipped past two defenders before rifling an effort into the side-netting.

However, Clinton Larsen's man managed to see out the rest of the game to clinch their third straight win, which saw them rise up to third on the table.

Here's how they lined up:

University of Pretoria: Arubi, Mwedihanga, Monyai, Gwala, Jaure, Mnyamane, Ketjijere, Ntombayithethi, Zwane, Kebede, Nyondo

Bloemfontein Celtic: Tignyemb,  Fransman, Ndengane, Letlabika, Bilankulu, Matuka, Phalane, Lakay, Pelembe, Morena, Massa
