A brace from George Lebese saw Kaizer Chiefs come from a goal behind to beat SuperSport United 4-1 in an Absa Premiership match at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday night.
The home team started the better of the two sides when Dove Wome tried his luck from just inside the box in the 11th minute, but Itumeleng Khune produced a good save to deny him.
Four minutes later Thuso Phala met a right wing cross, but his 12-yard volley was touched inches wide of the Chiefs goal.
In the 22nd minute United made their pressure tell when he fired a thunderous 24-yard shot into the top corner, 1-0.
In the 34th minute Bongani Khumalo thought he doubled United’s lead when he headed home a left-sided free-kick into the box, but his goal was disallowed due to off-sides.
Five minutes before the break Ivan Bukenya almost levelled matters for Chiefs when he met a left-sided free-kick into the box, but saw his close range header superbly saved by the SuperSport keeper.
The half ended 1-0 in favour of the home side.
It only took Chiefs four minutes into the second half to equalise when George Lebese latched onto a long ball from the back and lobbed the onrushing Ronwen Williams from the edge of the box, 1-1.
In the 54th minute the Amakhosi came close to taking the lead when a 24-yard shot from Reneilwe Letsholonyane was magnificently tipped over the target by Williams.
Four minutes later Chiefs took the lead when Bukenya headed home a Siphiwe Tshabalala free-kick, 2-1.
SuperSport pushed for an equaliser, but saw their chances severely reduced when they were reduced to ten men following Dean Furman’s second yellow card in the 79th minute.
Chiefs secured the win in the 88th minute when Camaldine Abraw played Lebese through on goal and he me made no mistake with just the keeper to beat, 3-1.
The icing on the cake was Chiefs fourth goal from the penalty spot courtesy of Tshabalala after Abraw was brought down inside the box in the 94th minute, 4-1.
