Pirates Left Frustrated By Aces

Absa Premiership
Score: Orlando Pirates 1-1 Mpumalanga Black Aces
Date: 18 September 2015
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Collins Mbesuma cancelled out Mpho Makola's strike, as Orlando Pirates were held to a 1-1 draw by Mpumalanga Black Aces on Friday evening.
The Buccaneers were in control from the onset, although the likes of Thabo Rakhale and Menzi Masuku squandered close range efforts in the opening exchanges.
Eric Tinkler's men broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Mpho Makola cut in from the left flank, before firing a low effort into the bottom corner.
The visitors hardly created much going forward, although they did force Felipe Ovono into a save via Aubrey Ngoma's free-kick from the edge of the box in the 30th minute.
Pirates were then dealt a blow in the 34th minute when Makola had to be substituted due to an injury. He was replaced by Sifiso Myeni.
However, Aces had the stronger finish to the first half and managed to draw themselves level, as Collins Mbesuma did well to create space in the box, before rifling an effort past Ovono.
Ovono had to be at his best in the 59th minute, as he did well to keep out Mbesuma's lobbed effort from the edge of the area.
Shu-Aib Walters was then called upon in the 70th minute, as he produced a wonderful save to keep Thabo Matlaba's volley from the edge of the area.
Pirates new boy, Roger Majafa, nearly marked his first appearance with a goal in the 75th minute but he placed his effort over the crossbar from 20-yards out.
Walters came to Aces' rescue in the 77th minute as the shot-stopper came rushing off his line to deny Matlaba.
However, Walters ensured Aces left the Orlando Stadium with a point, as he pulled off a superb save to deny Majoro from point-blank range in stoppage time.
The draw sees The Buccaneers move up to ninth in the Absa Premiership standings, while Aces are up to fifth.
Here's how they lined up:
Orlando Pirates:  Ovono, Mahamutsa, Gyimah, Jele, Matlaba, Masalesa, Ntshumayelo, Makola, Rakhale, Masuku, Majoro
Mpumalanga Black Aces: Walters, Kobola, Ngalo, Mzava, Nonyane, Manyama, Khuboni, Ngoma, Jayiya, Tukane, Mbesuma
