Chabangu Fires Birds To Victory
Result: Moroka Swallows 3-2 Polokwane City
Date: 26 August 2014
Venue: Dobsonville Stadium
Lerato Chabangu bagged a brace as Moroka Swallows defeated Polokwane City 3-2 in a Absa Premiership clash at the Dobsonville Stadium.
Zeca Marques' men moved onto nine points for the season with their win, while Polokwane have only picked up one win this season.
Lerato Chabangu opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a powerful header after being picked out by Siyabonga Nomvethe.
Four minutes later and Polokwane were level, as Thapelo Thshilo headed into an empty net, after an error from Greg Etafia.
The visitors then went ahead a minute after equalising, Puleng Tlolane headed home from close range, after the Swallows' defence were caught napping.
However, Swallows pulled level just before the halftime break through Vuyisile Wana's clinical finish, after the striker played a neat one-two with Dikgang Mabalane.
Tshilo should have given Polokwane the lead in the 52nd minute but he managed to steer his header over the crossbar from close range.
Maluleke came even closer in the 59th minute, as his long range effort crashed onto the upright, much to the delight of the home supporters.
It was the visitors who looked the most likely to grab the winner, as they saw most of the ball and created most of the chances in the second half.
However, Chabangu restored Swallows' lead in the 81st minute with a composed finish into the back of the net, after Mabalane's strike had deflected into the midfielder's path.
