Chiefs Maintain Winning Run

Mandla Masango's 79th minute strike earned Kaizer Chiefs a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bloemfontein Celtic in Absa Premiership clash at the FNB Stadium.
 
 
The win sees Stuart Baxter's move to the top of the league standings, while Ernst Middendorp's side continue to wait for the first league win.
 
The game got off to a very slow start, with neither outfit  playing with a great intensity or urgency.
 
Despite the slow start, it was Celtic who had the first chance of the half, as Fanck Mhango forced Itumeleng Khune into a fine fingertip save from 20-yards out.
 
Amakhosi, meanwhile, failed to get in the opening 45 minutes, the passing was not as good as it has been in recent weeks, while their efforts in the final third were nothing shot of poor.
 
Khune only had one save to make, while Patrick Tingyem was a spectator in the opening five minutes at the FNB Stadium.
 
Celtic will be the happier of the two sides, as they restricted Chiefs to long range efforts, while they've also seen a lot of the ball in the first half.
 
Chiefs almost broke the deadlock 10 minutes after the restart, as George Lebese's free-kick crashed against the frame of the goal, leaving Tingyemb with no chance.
 
George Lebese should have given Chiefs the lead in the 60th minute, but the winger ballooned his effort over the bar, after being teed up by Kingston Nkhatha.
 
The home side eventually took the lead in the 81st minute, as some good down the right flank from Lebese, set up Masango, who showed great composure to slot into the bottom corner.
 
Celtic failed to penetrate the Chiefs defence in the closing stages, as Chiefs maintain their 100 percent start to the season.
