SuperSport End Four-Game Losing Run

Absa Premiership

Result: Chippa United 0-2 SuperSport United

Date: 27 October 2015

Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

SuperSport United ended their four-game losing run in the Absa Premiership, after they edged past Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

SuperSport had the first meaningful opening of the game in the 10th minute when Thuso Phala's corner found un-marked Jeremy Brockie, who could only direct a tame header straight at Daniel Akpeyi.

The home side had a chance of their own just a minute later when Mark Mayambela forced Ronwen Williams into a routine save with a curling free-kick.

Chippa nearly fell behind in unfortunate circumstances in the 31st minute when Thabang Thopola's attempted clearance crashed against the upright, before Akpeyi managed to gather.

After a scrappy period in the first half, SuperSport eventually broke the deadlock in the 41st minute through a fine glancing header from Clayton Daniels.

The second half got off to a slow start just as it did in the second, as both sides struggled with the final pass in the attacking third.

Kingston Nkhatha went close in the 62nd minute, as the Zimbabwe international turned well before firing a volley on target, which Akpeyi managed to save.

Williams came to SuperSport's rescue in the 68th minute, as the goalkeeper was on hand to keep out Mayambela's stinging free-kick from the edge of the area.

However, SuperSport sealed the win in the 85th minute when an un-marked Jeremy Brockie fired home a well-taken volley at the far post. His third league goal of the season.

The win moves Gordon Igesund's charges up to 11th in the Absa Premiership standings, while Chilli Boys remain in 10th spot.

Here's how they lined up:

Chippa United: Akpeyi, Okwuosa, Thopola, Mthiyane, Chipeta, Zuke, Uzochukwu, Twala, Mayambela, Manzini, Bance

SuperSport United: Williams, Boxall, Daniels, Farmer, S.Khumalo, Mkhabela, Furman, Phala, Wome, Nkhatha, Brockie
