Both Bloemfontein Celtic and Free State Stars played to a goalless draw in an Absa Premiership match at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Wednesday night.
Celtic started the better of the two teams and had the first effort on goal in the ninth minute, but Lyle Lakay’s effort from just outside the box went narrowly wide of the target.
Three minutes later, Strars had their first shot on goal when Thokozani Sekotlong unleashed a powerful shot from long range, but his effort also went wide.
On the half hour Lantshene Phalane came within inches of giving Celtic the lead, but his shot from 18-yards out shaved the wrong side of the post.
Two minutes before the break Lantshene Phalane tried his luck again from range, but he was denied by the keeper.
The half ended 0-0.
Stars started the second half the better side with a shot on goal in the 51st minute courtesy of a strike from Thokozani Sekotlong, but Patrick Tignyemb made a good save to deny the winger.
Just after the hour mark Paulos Masehe tried his like from long range, but his effort went just wide of the goal.
The game fell into a bit of a lull after that with the next decent opening only coming in the 85th minute when Celtic's Khethokwakhe Masuku broke behind the defence, but he was thwarted by goalkeeper Thela Ngobeni.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the final five minutes, but neither could find a goal as the match ended all-square.
