Full Time: Ajax Cape Town 1-1 Kaizer Chiefs
Date: 26 September 2015
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
The points were shared at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday night when the Absa Premiership match between Ajax Cape Town and Kaizer Chiefs ended 1-1.
It was a slow start to the match for both sides, but Chiefs managed the first attempt on goal in the 15th minute and were unlucky not to take the lead.
Edward Manqele burst down the right flank and squared for Camaldine Adraw ten-yards out, but he was superbly denied by Anssi Jaakkola at close range.
Ten minutes later Bernard Parker was also denied by the Ajax keeper when he palmed a 24-yard free-kick away from goal.
The home side’s first attempt on goal only came in the 27th minute, but Travis Graham fired inches wide from 30-yards out.
Eight minutes later Ajax had their second attempt on goal when Riyaad Norodien tried his luck from an acute angle on the right 25-yards out, but his shot went just over the bar.
Chiefs had the last say of the half when a 16-yard shot from Tsepo Masilela in the dying seconds of the stanza was brilliantly saved by the Ajax keeper.
The half ended 0-0.
The second half saw both sides struggling to create scoring chances due to some poor passing and bad decision making in the final third.
Nonetheless, Chiefs persisted and found the opening goal in the 65th minute when Edward Manqele was quickest to follow-up on a save by Jaakkola, off an initial Siphiwe Tshabalala shot, to tap the ball home from close range, 1-0.
The Amakhosi’s lead only last five minutes, however, when Nathan Pualse levelled matters after powerfully heading home a corner-kick, 1-1.
Chiefs nearly re-took the lead when George Lebese met a low right-wing cross from Gaxa, but he saw his 16-yard shot well-saved by Jaakkola.
Neither side could find the winner in the final ten minutes as the spoils were shared, 1-1.
