Full Time: Ajax Cape Town 1-1 Polokwane City
Date: 11 February 2015
Venue: Cape Town Stadium
A goal in the dying seconds of the match from Sipho Jembula salvaged a point for Polokwane City as they played to a 1-1 draw against Ajax Cape Town in an Absa Premiership match at the Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.
Polokwane started the better of the two sides and had the first decent effort on goal in the seventh minute, but Joseph Musonda fired his shot from the edge of the box inches over the crossbar.
Ten minutes later, though, and the home side took the lead when Tashreeq Morris turned home a cross from Milton Ncube with a clinical left-footed finish, 1-0.
Puleng Tlolane almost hit back for the visitors in the 26th minute when his powerful shot from just inside the box struck the woodwork.
Ajax had the last say of the half when Bantu Mzwakali broke into space 20-yards out from goal in the 43rd minute, but his shot from distance was magnificently save by Modiri Marumo.
The half ended with the Urban Warriors leading Polokwane 1-0.
Polokwane came out firing in the second half and came close to the equaliser two minutes after the restart when Rendani Ndou fired an 18-yard shot just wide of the target.
In the 75th minute Sipho Jembula was also just centimetres away from levelling matters for Polokwane when his long range shot skimmed the wrong side of the post.
Three minutes from the end Ransford Osei thought he had finally found Polokwane’s opening goal on the night, but he saw his effort from just inside the box superbly saved by Anssi Jaakkola.
Still, Polokwane pushed forward and they were rewarded for their efforts in the dying seconds of the game when Jembula poked the ball home after Jaakkola spilled a cross, 1-1.
