Sundowns Player Ratings V St Michel

Soccer Laduma rates the individual performances of the Mamelodi Sundowns players following their 3-0 win over St Michel in a CAF Champions League preliminary, second leg tie on 28 February 2015

Kennedy Mweene: 6

Was a very quiet night in goal for Mweene. He only really had to make one save and he did it brilliantly.

Asavela Mbekile: 6

Was good in his right wing-back role, but did nothing outstanding. He did his job adqueately in both attack and defence.

Ramahlwe Mphahlele: 6

Was solid in his defensive centre-back role. He did not have a tough night as St Michel did not offer much in attack. He did not do anything wrong.

Alje Schut: 6

Was solid in his defensive centre-back role. He did not have a tough night as St Michel did not offer much in attack. He did not do anything wrong.

Mzikayise Mashaba: 7

He was good in his left back wing role. He defended well and he got forward in attack. He won the penalty that led to the first goal.

Themba Zwane: 6

He was his usual self in his midfield role down the right flank. He got forward in attack and did well in defence. He did nothing outstanding, but he did nothing wrong either.

Hlompho Kekana: 7

Was good in his central midfield role. He was solid in front of his back four, but he was also good in an attacking sense. He had a couple of shots on goal and he made some good creative passes.

Teko Modise: 6

Was a relatively quiet night for the creative midfield player. He did nothing out of the ordinary, but did nothing wrong.

Kudakwashe Mahachi: 6

Was a quiet night for Mahachi considering his normal explosive self in attack. He did not do anything wrong, but he did nothing to stand out.

Mame Niang: 6

Niang was threatening in attack, but his finishing in front of goal was not at its best.

Surprise Moriri: 8

Moriri head a great game in attack and was a constant thorn in the side of the St Michel defence. He scored a brace on the day and was largely the reason for Sundowns victory.

Substitutes

Katlego Mashego: 7

Came on in the 56th minute and did well in attack. He was a constant menace for the St Michel defence and scored his side’s third goal on the night.

Thabo Nthethe: 6

Came on as a substitute for Schut in the 59th minute. He was solid in his centre-back role, but was never really tested. He did nothing wrong.

Anthony Laffor: 7

Laffor was exciting from the moment he came onto the field in the 66th minute. He used his strength, skill and speed to attack both down the flank and through the middle of the park. He also created his side’s third goal on the night.
