Absa Premiership
Half Time: SuperSport United 0-0 Orlando Pirates
Date: 5 April 2014
Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium
Both sides were poor in front of goal and were largely reduced to shooting from long range as the Absa Premiership match between SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Saturday afternoon entered the half time break locked at 0-0.
Pirates controlled the possession stakes for the most part in the first half and dictated the flow of the game, but for all their dominance they really struggled in the final third.
The Buccaneers seemed to lack imagination and often wasted good attacking moves with poor passing and bad decision making in front of goal.
SuperSport, on the other hand, despite seeing very little of the ball, were the more dangerous side in attack with Thuso Phala in particular being denied by a brilliant save from Senzo Meyiwa in the 21st minute.
Both side’s finishing was poor and something that will be addressed by both coaches at the break.
Statistically, Pirates saw more of the ball and had more shots on goal with five attempts to United’s two.
