Half Time: Kaizer Chiefs 0-0 MP Black Aces
Date: 9 April 2014
Venue: FNB Stadium
Kaizer Chiefs wasted chance after chance as they entered the half time break in their Absa Premiership match against MP Black Aces at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday night locked at 0-0.
The first 45 minutes was a half dominated by the Amakhosi as they controlled the possession stakes and dictated the flow of the game, often having that extra yard of pace in the midfield to win the ball.
Still, for all their dominance the Soweto Giants really lacked imagination in the final third and struggled to break down a resilient Aces defence.
Consequently, the Amakhosi were reduced to shooting from long range and not very successfully.
Three men in particular in George Lebese, Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshablala posed the most threat in attack, but their shooting lacked direction, and if it was on target they saw Jackson Mabokgwane produce some goods saves to deny them.
Chiefs were growing visibly frustrated as they half progressed and that allowed Aces to finish the stanza quite strongly, but neither team could breach the goalline before the break.
Just before the half-time break Chiefs were lucky not to concede a penalty, after Willard Katsande hacked down Tendai Ndoro in the box, but the referee waved play on.
Statistically, Chiefs dominated possession stakes and shots on goal with nine attempts to Aces two.
