Mabena Salvages A Point For Dikwena

Absa Premiership

Result: Ajax Cape Town 1-1 Platinum Stars

Date: 13 April 2016

Venue: Cape Town Stadium

Ndumiso Mabena cancelled out Tashreeq Morris' early strike, as Ajax Cape Town and Platinum Stars drew 1-1 at the Cape Town Stadium.

The home side got off to a better start and nearly took the lead after four minutes, as Nathan Paulse rattled the crossbar with a fine header.

The early pressure paid off for Ajax in the 18th minute, as Tashreeq Morris headed home from close range, after some impressive build-up play.

Dikwena got stronger as the half went on and nearly drew level after 30 minutes, but Annsi Jaakkola produced a fine save to deny Vuyo Mere from close range.

The bulk of the chances fell to hosts in the first half and they could have had a second goal in the 37th minute when Morris met Riyaad Norodien's corner, however the striker failed to direct his header on target.

The score remained 1-0 in favour of the Urban Warriors at the halftime break.

However, Dikwena came out fighting in the second half and managed to level matters in the 58th minute through Ndumiso Mabena's eight goal of the season.

Roger De Sa opted to re-shuffle his pack as they went in search for a winner, and he introduced Tariq Losper and Franklin Cale for the final 20 minutes.

Losper nearly made an immediate impact following his introduction, when his glancing header brushed the upright in the 77th minute.

The Urban Warriors pushed for a winner in the closing stages, with Cale going closest with a free-kick in the 86th minute.

However, neither side could find a second goal and the score remained level at the full-time whistle in Cape Town.

Here's how they line-up:

Ajax Cape Town: 32. Jaakkola, 2. Mabaso, 18. Mobara, 3. Coetzee, 5. Lebusa, 8. Mdabuka, 31. Norodien (Cale 73'), 20. Isaacs, 29. Paulse, 11. Mzwakali (Losper 70'), 14. Morris
