Orlando Pirates’ 12-match winless Absa Premiership run is a cause for concern for the supporters by the club’s standards.
Abbubaker Mobara says there are no excuses for the team’s disappointing form, as they continue attempting to change the club’s fortunes.
The Buccaneers last won a league game on November 22 when they beat Chippa United 1-0 at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
That was way before their current head coach, Kjell Jonevret, was appointed by the club. So far under the Swedish coach, Bucs have drawn three games, which were against Polokwane City, Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United, and lost one against Free State Stars.
However, Jonevret managed to guide the team to a win in the Nedbank Cup Last 32 game they played last month against EC Bees from the ABC Motsepe League.
But Bucs are still inconsistent with their league form, despite the technical team changes made by the club earlier this year. The team has collected three points out of a possible 12 under the Swede in charge of the side.
Pirates’ disappointing form and results have seen them dropping closer to the relegation dogfight at the bottom half of the log. Pirates are 12th on the PSL log, with just four wins with nine games remaining for the 2016/17 season.
Mobara remains positive about the team’s current situation. In an interview in edition 1017 of Soccer Laduma, the defender-cum-midfielder says as the team they are trying to improve their performances.
“There are no excuses – we all lose and win as a team. There are top teams that have bad seasons or bad days. From there, you just have to try and not repeat the same mistakes that prevented you from winning. If we don’t repeat those mistakes that prevented us from winning again, I think we stand a good chance of winning. We are a good side and we have the potential,” said Mobara.
