Ex-Chiefs & Downs Man Released By Eagles
Royal Eagles have confirmed the departure of seven players, including former Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns striker, Katlego Mphela.
Mphela, now 32, started just two games for the club last season as they narrowly missed out on a spot in the promotional playoffs, and has now been deemed surplus to requirements.
The ex-Bafana Bafana forward is joined by Enva Wiltwer, Carlington Nyadombo, Philani Shange, Jabulani Nene, Tumisang Matlholwa and Thuto Xaba, (26) on the list of exits, news that was confirmed by the club’s General Manager, James Dlamini.
Speaking in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Dlamini said, “Those seven players have gone. So has our assistant coach, Joel Masutha, physiotherapist Lucky Khumalo and Brazilian goalkeeper coach, Eduardo Schoeler.”
The club have been quick to sign replacements to the outgoing players, snapping up Joshua Sauls and Dumisani Tau, as well as five others ahead of the the new season.
Dlamini went on to say, “Apart from those, we now have Diego Brown, Cleopas Dube (Stellenbosch), Siyanda Khumalo (Mbombela United), Nkanyiso Madonsela (Jomo Cosmos) and Mazwi Mncube (Mthatha Bucks).”
