Brandon Truter appears to have the support of his Swallows bosses having returned from leave, but that’s not stopped a few coaches making enquiries.
Indications are that Dan Malesela, Gordon Igesund and Dylan Kerr were offered to the Dube Birds as possible replacements if Truter did not return from his break.
With Owen da Gama sacked by TS Galaxy recently, his name is understood to have also come up, although there is no firm proposal at the club to bring in a new coach just yet.
But the club did confirm in a statement last week that there would be “drastic changes” if Swallows do not improve their poor results of late.
Truter went on leave a day after the 3-0 thrashing by SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership on September 19.
Simo Dladla, his assistant coach, was placed in charge, but appeared to be angling for the job himself when he surprisingly told SuperSport during a live TV interview that he would use the games he has been given change the philosophy and approach!
He later told journalists he was misunderstood, but by then that could have clearly caused tension between Dladla and Truter, who returned to work during the FIFA break.
The Siya crew understands that there are no immediate plans to fire Truter, but it’s been made clear to the coach that things have to change.
Swallows are third from bottom after six league games and have only registered a single victory, which came against Royal AM some time back.
They face Stellenbosch FC at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto this afternoon with Truter desperate to return them to winning ways.
